Picture-Manager "PicMan"

Deutsch Deutsch

PicMan (Picture-Manager) can rename pictures according to the date the picture was taken. A manual time shift can also be performed.

PicMan.gif (9789 bytes)

The new filename of a picture will be for example "2004-10-24_155619.jpg". This means that the picture has been taken the 24th of October 2004 at 15:56:19 h.

This naming has the following advantages:

  • You don't have to find unique names for your pictures
  • The name of the picture contains useful time information
  • If you sort a list of pictures by its name, they will appear in the order they have been taken
  • Pictures taken by different cameras can be placed in one single folder without a naming conflict and appear in the right order

I organize my picture as follows: I place all of my pictures in one folder and rename them using PicMan. As soon as the size of the folder exceeds 650 MB, I archive it on a CD-ROM and start another folder.
